This case study centres on the development of the National Park “Brabantse Wouden,” which includes plans to restore and develop 400 hectares of connecting landscapes and ecological corridors, while promoting resilient agricultural practices. Key goals include achieving carbon-neutral agriculture and addressing major water-related challenges such as run-off and erosion.

Under the LAFERIA project, and coordinated by the Province of Vlaams-Brabant, EV-ILVO will work with stakeholders to assess preferences and opportunities for reintroducing specific landscape features (LF), evaluate their impacts on biodiversity and ecosystem services (ES), and identify barriers to implementation. Key partners include the Province of Vlaams-Brabant, the Flemish Land Agency, the Agency of Nature and Forest, and local municipalities.
