This case study focuses on agricultural areas surrounding the municipality of Leipzig, covering 10,000 hectares, with 1,800 hectares owned by the city and leased to farmers. In October 2023, Leipzig introduced a point-based system for allocating new leasing contracts, prioritising the reintroduction of landscape features (LF). Additionally, farmers are encouraged to implement whole-farm restoration practices, extending beyond city-owned land. The study aims to develop and implement a marketing and dissemination strategy to expand the supporting market and create economic benefits for participating farmers.

Key partners include UFZ/iDiv and the City of Leipzig, who will engage stakeholders such as conventional farmers, solidarity agriculture initiatives, small retailers, and the local food council network (Ernährungsrat).
