The Bulgaria Case Study held its Inception Workshop in Plovdiv

The LAFERIA project reached another milestone on 20 February 2026 by hosting its inception workshop for the Bulgarian case study, aiming at encouraging on-the-ground stakeholder engagement. The event, led by Vyara Stefanova (STEP) and Yanka Kazakova (STEP), brought together a group of 11 participants to learn more about the project and to discuss the future of landscape features (LF) in the Plovdiv region.

The workshop’s objectives were:

1️⃣ Introducing the main research approaches and directions within LAFERIA.

2️⃣ Establishing a group of interested stakeholders who would like to take part in future project activities.

3️⃣ Identifying goals for LF in the Plovdiv agricultural areas and assessing the necessity of providing the stakeholders with any additional information in order to achieve them.

The workshop was open to a wide range of professionals, including local farmers and agricultural unions, representatives from regional agricultural offices, environmental institutions, and academic organisations.

This mix of expertise ensures that the project will take into account the needs of food producers as well as the requirements of environmental policy.
