LAFERIA’s mission is to identify the key factors that support the reintroduction of landscape features (LF) in (intensive) agricultural areas. A crucial step towards this goal is to learn from examples of both successful and failed attempts to (re)introduce and maintain landscape features across Europe.
Landscape features are grouped into four main categories:
- Woody (hedgerows, tree lines, agroforestry, small woodlands)
- Grassy (grass strips, meadows, fallow land, buffer zones)
- Wet (ponds, wetlands, riparian buffers)
- Stony (stone walls, rock piles, terraces, and cultural features like dolmens)
As the project gains momentum in its early stages LAFERIA has launched an open survey to gather examples of LF reintroduction in agricultural contexts. The survey seeks initiatives that:
- Are located within Europe (EU or non-EU)
- Relate to agricultural areas (arable land, grassland, and/or permanent crops)
- Involve landscape features
- Provide learnings - such as business models, cooperation types, labelling, or improved management practices
Do you know such initiatives? Please enter them into the survey here!
