The Green Heart of Cork was a WWF-led project in Portugal aimed at promoting the sustainable management of cork oak landscapes (montados). It developed a payment for ecosystem services (PES) scheme, creating attractive financial offers for landowners to adopt best management practices that conserve these valuable agroforestry systems.
