This case study focuses on the Plovdiv region, located in the heart of the Thracian Valley, where intensive arable farming dominates alongside some horticulture and upland permanent grasslands. The shift from traditional land uses to cereals and industrial crops has resulted in a significant loss of landscape features (LF). Farmers in the region showed minimal interest in LF under the EU Greening scheme (2014–2020), and uptake remains very low under the current eco-scheme. The study aims to explore ways to reverse this trend by engaging key partners.

Key partners include arable farmers, the National Agricultural Advisory Service (NAAS), the Bulgarian National Horticulture Union, the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds, and TPD, a member of the Plovdiv Bioeconomy Hub.
